Long & Short Handle Striking Tools

Nupla makes an extensive line of long and short handled striking tools with Genuine Nuplaglas® Lifetime® handles.  All tools meet and exceed ANSI and U.S. Federal Specifications.

This offering covers short and long handled sledges, Michigan single and double bit axes, splitting mauls, railroad picks, cutter mattocks, single and double edge bush hooks and ditch bank blades.  Handle styles are available in Classic® or Ergo Power® configurations with ergonomic safety grips.

Classic® Nuplaglas handles have been the standard in the industry from the mid ‘50s when Nupla patented the revolutionary Nuplaglas process of pultruding millions of fiberglass strands combined with resin to create solid tool handles of tremendous strength and durability.  This pultrusion process still drives Nuplaglas handled tools today with ten-fold new products and applications.

Ergo Power® handles feature a solid pultruded Nuplaglas structural core with a injection molded outer jacket of engineering polymer for a perfect balance of ergonomic comfort, safety, strength and durability.

Striking tools are offered with a choice of four ergonomic grip styles to provide maximum comfort, a better user-fit, less gripping effort and “squeeze” even in moist or humid conditions.

Sledge Hammers – Nupla carries the broadest line in the industry covering weights from 3 lb. through 20 lb. with handle length variations and grip styles.  Drop forged heads and solid Nuplaglas handles make these the toughest, most durable sledges available.

Michigan single and double bit axes with precision ground cutting edges feature drop forged heads, heat treated and tempered for toughness, long edge life and capability for many sharpenings.

Splitting mauls are drop forged and heat treated for strength and durability.  Drop forged and heat treated splitting wedges are also available separately.

Railroad picks and cutter mattocks have forged, heat treated and ground heads.  The special Nuplaglas handle for these tools features a molded slug of engineering material which allows quick, easy and firm assembly to pick and mattock heads without epoxy.  Both Classic and Ergo Power handles are interchangeable with the various style heads, which are also available separately.

Bush hooks and ditch bank blades, excellent for clearing undergrowth, feature heavy gauge blades.  The blade edges are ground with a double taper for sharpness and durability.
