Guy Rod
From the Arctic to the Tropics, under severe conditions and in climates around the world, time-tested Nuplaglas® continuous length fiberglass structural rod has supported communication towers and military antennas around the globe since the ‘50s. Recognized as a leader in the field of glass-reinforced structural plastic materials, the company produced Nuplaglas® to government specifications since the product was first recognized as a technical breakthrough. To this day it is still the best available corrosion-resistant, nonconductive structural rod for utility and communications applications.
Super strong epoxy coated white Nuplaglas structural rod uses the same patented pultrusion technology as Nuplaglas fiberglass handles in which millions of continuous, parallel fiberglass strands are cured under tension in a thermosetting resin. The resulting rod is high in flexural and tensile strength with approximately 3:1 strength-to-weight advantage over steel strand cable. The rod has a high “Q” dielectric factor that makes it an excellent insulator. Its non-conductive properties eliminate interference problems. Additional features of the rod include minimum elongation, low moisture absorption, and high weather resistance.
Nuplaglas structural rod is available in custom lengths and diameters from ¼” to 1 1/16” with factory-installed end fittings. These open and closed end fittings have passed the most rigorous tests to meet the most demanding specifications. Continuous length rod is coilable up to 1/2” diameters and shipped in special crates for damage protection in transit. For diameters over ½”, Nuplaglas is available in any cut length up to 38 feet which is the maximum cut length that shippers can handle.
