Rakes, Hoes, Specialty Fire Tools
Nupla’s fire tool range includes Fire Rakes, McLeod Forester’s rake/hoe combination tool, Fire Swatter, and the unique Nupole Fire Pole System. This System with its take-apart combination of handles and interchangeable fire tool heads offers versatility and performance.
All tools feature Lifetime® Nuplaglas® handles for strength, safety and durability. The composite handle construction consists of millions of continuous parallel fiberglass strands cured under tension in a thermosetting resin over a lightweight honeycomb core with solid fiberglass reinforcement at critical stress points.
Fire Rake with four tempered steel blades securely riveted on an angle iron frame, is a general purpose tool for raking fire lines, digging, rolling burning logs, chopping small brush, weeding and cleaning. Installed on a 60” Nuplaglas handle this tool will take in-field abuse much better than a wood handled tool.
McLeod Forester’s Fire Tool is used by the U.S. Forest Service as a combination rake/hoe. Used for raking fire lines with the tined edge and for cutting sod or branches with the sharpened hoe edge, the tool is also useful for tamping and compacting tread. It is available with two handle styles - 48” Classsic Nuplaglas, and 48” Classic Nuplaglas with Protec® abrasion resistant sleeve. The Nuplaflex® sleeve acts as a barrier that minimizes handle wear and protects the user from possible fiberglass splinters. While providing safety and comfort, Protec also offers a superior gripping surface useful in all heavy duty applications.
Fire Swatter with fire resistant Neoprene flap is useful for smothering grass, straw and small brush fires. 60” Nuplaglas fiberglass handle adds strength and durability to this tool.
Nupole Fire Pole System is unique to Nupla. This versatile combination system features the most popular take-apart heads and handle extensions to make the desired length of tool in a minimum amount of time. Pike Head, Ventilation Hook Head, and Ceiling Wall Hook Heads with 3 ft. Nuplaglas handle sections and connectors allow easy portability and limited storage space with less investment. Longer tools can be quickly assembled with 2 ft. through 16 ft. handle extensions. These handles have built-in connectors at both ends made of aircraft aluminum and quick release buttons for connecting to head and grip sections. Grip-end handle sections with connectors, in 3 ft. or 6 ft. lengths, are offered with three grip styles – butt, steel D-grip or aluminum D-grip.
The strength of Nuplaglas handles exceeds all Federal standards. Flame resistant to 800 degrees Fahrenheit, the handles resist heat to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, and are unaffected by sub zero temperatures. They have excellent dielectric properties that make them safe to use even in wet conditions. Smooth, resin rich handle surfaces protect users from splinters and resist UV deterioration. The handles are unaffected by cuts, blows, moisture, or most industrial chemicals and are easily cleaned of concrete, tar etc. In addition, the tools have a high shelf life since they are unaffected by fungus, termites or dry rot as are wood handled tools.
